Life through my ‘Point of View’.

How beautiful is it that we all experience the world in our own ways? No thing is perceived the same by two people, and there are so many ways to share your experiences with the world. Viewing art and reading are my two favorite ways to consume the storytelling of other people's experiences. Photography has become a way for me to tell my own story and share my experiences with others.

Many people see my business name, POV of B, and cannot figure out what I’m trying to say. They try to sound it out and wonder what word I just made up. Well, I’m here to tell you what the bleep that says and what it means to me and my business. POV is an abbreviation for “point of view”. B is a little nickname for my full name, Breann. So POV of B just means  ‘point of view of Breann’.

When I started photography, it was very casual and experimental. I took my camera on walks and hikes and took pictures of anything that intrigued me. I was able to zoom in on details I would’ve otherwise missed if I wasn’t looking for things to photograph. It gave me the gifts of intentionality, mindfulness, and romanticization.  Was that just an old building with vines on it or was it nature taking back over what was hers? Was I going on a hike with my boyfriend or was he leading the way to our next unknown adventure? My camera lens gave me a new perspective on the world around me, and I wanted to share how I saw the world. I wanted to share my “POV”.

As my subjects transitioned from objects to humans, I began noticing the features that make each person unique and (this may be cliche but) beautiful. I wanted to capture the finest details of peoples' being and amplify them so they could also see the beauty in themselves and their lives as I did. This became my mission.

Recently, I’ve started getting into graphic design where I doodle things that bring me joy, and share words that inspire me through my ‘Affirmations with B” series and through my blogs. With these and my photos, I share my unique perspective of this world, giving meaning to the name ‘POV of B’.

I encourage you to share your experiences in any way you can. This can be through painting, poetry, drawings, photos, or any other storytelling tool. Not even necessarily on a social media platform or any public platform if you don't want to. However, people close to you want to hear, see, and experience the world how you do just as your curiosity wants to consume their storytelling as well. You are a beautiful and complex individual, the world needs your perspective.
